There is something for everyone.

A district with loft-style first floors, inviting neighborhood squares, and green facades. Residents will feel at home in the Schumacher Quartier. More than 5,000 residential units of different types will be created here:

50% multi-floor residential buildings (chiefly rental apartments) built by municipal property companies 

40% various housing types built by cooperatives and baugruppen [“building groups” or collective construction projects] (building plots are awarded to cooperatives and baugruppen depending on their innovative concepts)

10% student accommodation 

 

The percentage of subsidized rentals will be around 35-40%. In addition, there will be two schools as well as sports and youth facilities on an education campus. Six daycare centers will also be offered.

The vision for the Schumacher Quartier is translated into concepts and guidelines for spaces and for development. The “Quartiersbuch Schumacher Quartier” summarizes all the preliminary work, making it a guidebook for the next steps so that the Schumacher Quartier can gradually take form and develop into a livable urban district for Berlin. It addresses everyone who wishes to contribute through their ideas and actions towards realization of the Schumacher Quartier.

The granting of the leasehold rights to the plots provisioned for cooperatives and construction groups will begin after acquisition of the site by Tegel Projekt GmbH. We will publish up-to-date information on our websites.

Each developer is responsible for the exact scheduling of the housing constructed by the municipal property companies. In accordance with the current status of planning, however, we are starting from the assumption that the first renters will be able to move into their new homes in 2027.
