The Schumacher Quartier will pursue ideas for sustainable urban development with extraordinary determination. DGNB Certification will therefore be sought for the residential district. For example, the buildings in the Quartier, which is car-free, will be laid out in such a way that natural air currents and sunlight will create an optimal natural climate. But economic efficiency and socioeconomic and functional aspects are also important for DGNB Certification. This means that the Schumacher Quartier also will become a project of international appeal.
The campus district of the Urban Tech Republic on the premises of the former airport has already received a DGNB Seal of Approval in the Urban Districts category.
